The Miller Flats. A History
94 Charles Street was originally built in 1860 as a single family “model home” to help market the development and sale of townhomes in the soon-to-be-filled Back Bay area of Boston. Back then, the Back Bay was still the Charles River, and the entire project took until the early 1880's to be completed. As the landfill progressed, buildings were completed and in 1867, 94 Charles Street was sold to Joseph Miller and family, who occupied it as their primary residence for over 100 years.

First time Apartment/hotel concept stay and I was apprehensive. … but don’t be!! Trust the process!!!! Staying in an historic building on Beacon Street was everything we hoped it would be—The apartment is just like the photos and communication with the managers was wonderful! Thanks for the handwritten note and bottle of wine? The apartment was clean, the bathroom large, the air conditioner worked well and the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The kitchen is tiny although had ample supplies for our six day stay (I did bring some coffee from home). We did not cook as there is too much great food in Boston. The tap water taste great!! The thermostat is a little unique and takes a minute to learn. (No AirBNB type folder with detailed info at this style stay). When one of the screens went blank, our text was answered in less than a minute (after hours!!) and we were able to reset with no further issues. On our last night the tv lost internet connection. Again, we had immediate assistance (after hours) and easy resolution. They even sent a follow up text a little to make sure things were still working. This is not a 5 star luxury rental. It is a fabulous quaint apartment in a really cool part of Boston Maybe TMI…. So just book it. P.S. not much drawer space— we used the Kitchen cabinets?

Excellent location. Great neighborhood with great restaurants, shops and of course bakeries. the Blank and Tatte have yummy pastries. 4 blocks from Boston Commons. Questions were answered promptly when needed. Accommodated our late notice early check in. 9 apartments in Well secured building. Highly recommend.

I didn’t love the room and wouldn’t stay again. The bed and couch were really hard and uncomfortable. The pillows were sooo large and made for uncomfortable sleeping position. I felt like my body was horizontal and my head was vertical lol. I opted to sleep on my hoodie. The apartment 4 was the only apartment in the building that the tv wouldn’t allow us to cast streaming services from my phone which was inconvenient. Overall i shouldve just stayed at a hotel

I’ve now stayed at two Thatch properties (Charles Street and Prentiss House), and both have been impeccably clean, very comfortable, and conveniently located. My only negative is that I’m kicking myself that I didn’t discover them earlier and had been going to hotels that ended up costing more and offering less in terms of amenities and comfort. I’ll definitely be returning.

Great little apartment. It was perfect and just what we expected! No problems checking in or out! Lock box very convenient! Especially loved all the nearby restaurants and markets! Thanks!

Thatch on Charles Street is in a great location- easily walkable to many tourist attractions, restaurants, and even the north end. The studio was small but with great light, well designed, and felt like home. There is some street noise (even from the 5th floor) but nothing too crazy! We will definitely be back. I recommended stopping in at The Sevens across the street.

Amazing Location. Lovely Place. Our first time to Boston and the place was in a great central location and beautiful neighborhood. We think a few small things could make this place even better. Some lamps in the main living area would be great. They only had the extremely bright overhead light or no light for options. some ambient lighting would be a huge plus. The Living Room could also use a nice comfy chair for sitting. This place can hold 4 people but really only 3 can sit on the couch. Both some lamps and another chair would make it way cozier. Also, the kitchen itself is very nice but it needs more items available for cooking/ serving/reheating. No bowl even for salad, we had to use a saucepan. And no sheet pan or anything else to put in the oven even though there is an oven. Some inexpensive bowls, pyrex containers to put in the oven and a sheet pan would be awesome. Also, it's always nice to have specific instructions for ovens as there are so many variables. It didn't seem like whoever was supposed to check everything before a new client comes stopped by because we had to immediately contact them about a few things. And the dishwasher was not even unloaded. Obviously not a time consuming chore but it still should have been done. The bedroom window was broken and they did not know about this either and asked me to send a photo. This seemed a little curious to us. All that being said, we hope to stay here in the future. Thanks Thatch!

We loved being a few floors up overlooking the vibrancy of this neighborhood. We enjoyed amazing coffee drinks and cinnamon rolls, nuts, one of a kind paper stores with lots of Boston history. It really feels like a family neighborhood inside Beacon Hill, all the runners on the Charles River, and beautiful botanical doorways mixed between historical and modern settings!

We stayed one night at the end of our vacation. I chose this because of the neighborhood location and because they have a small elevator (we had 2 bigger suitcases). The neighborhood is charming with several good options within a short walk. The apartment had a separate bedroom, tv in the living area and kitchen. This would be a great place to stay for several days (there is a $150 cleaning fee so be aware). I would stay there again when visiting Boston.

kitchen and bath immaculate. Light a touch dark in the bathroom. Great one bedroom, facing back so quiet, yet you're in the middle of everything Charles Street has to offer. Perfect location, and love walk-ups or use the elevator. Thank you Thatch on Charles Street. Not my favorite bed bit fine for a few nights.
